(3) Group meetings
The group met together four
times in the chemistry reading room Each meeting lasted for at least one
hour During the first meeting the search on CD Rom was done and the papers
to be considered for the project were selected. During the next
meeting
the papers were discussed among all the group members and important
contributions
were made in order to select the most appropriate paper. And it was in the
last meeting when the project took its final form.
(4) Group Dynamics
We had a nice
experience working on this on this project and enjoyed a great deal
working together. Our project initiated with the search for a suitable
paper for the project. For this we scanned about hundred papers on CD Rom,
out of these hundred five suitable ones were selected. These five were
from three different journals they are as follows:-
1) Journal of the American Chemical Society
2) Carbohydrate Research
3) Canadian Journal of Chemistry
These five were intensively studied in our second group meeting we
unanimously agreed on working on one paper from Carbohydrate Research.
The advantages of working on this paper lies in the fact that we get to
know more about the varied aspects of NMR spectroscopy.
We of course benefited personally since this project required a lot
of analyzation and understanding of NMR up to a critical level. The
creation of problem set enhanced our acumen towards NMR and overall
speaking
our vision widened. However the only problem we faced while working on
this project was understanding the paper properly and henceforth framing
proper questions. However with our collaborative effort we were successful
in overcoming the problem.
It is due to this hands on experience with the NMR that we would like to
engage in such group activities again in the future. Last but not the
least
we definitely like to say that we had enjoyed working on this project more
than the previous one.
